ANAR started in 2020 in a two room studio above a chai shop in Shahpur Jat, with a pattern cutter, a textile designer and three karigars. We now employ fourteen people on the same floor and one more upstairs.

We make festive clothes for a younger buyer who wants colour, movement and hand work without the weight or the price of a bridal house. Nothing is outsourced to a factory. The embroidery we cannot do in Delhi goes to two family workshops we know by name: mirror work in Bhuj and bandhani in Jamnagar.

How a lehenga gets made

Pattern
1 day
Every style starts as a paper pattern in six sizes. Blouses are drafted with an inch of margin at the side seams so they can be let out later.

Cutting
1 day
Kalis are cut on the bias for flare. A sixteen kali lehenga uses 7.5 metres of georgette and 3 metres of cotton lining.

Embroidery
4 to 18 days
Mirror work goes to our partner workshop in Bhuj, Kutch. Gota ribbon comes from Jaipur and is stitched on our floor. Resham and zardozi are done in the studio.

Finishing
2 days
Can can layers, latkans, hooks and hems. Every piece is steamed, checked under daylight and packed in a muslin bag.

Fitting
Same day
In the studio or by video call. One alteration is free within 30 days of delivery.

Shipping and returns

Ready sizes leave Delhi in 3 days. Made to order and made to measure pieces take 7 to 21 days, shown on each product. Free shipping in India over ₹15,000, otherwise ₹250. We ship to the UK, US, UAE and Singapore for a flat ₹3,500, duties paid by the buyer.

UPI, cards, net banking and EMI on cards over ₹10,000. Cash on delivery on orders up to ₹25,000. All prices include GST.

Ready sizes can be returned within 7 days of delivery, unworn and with tags. We collect from your door and refund to the original payment method within 5 working days. Made to measure pieces are final sale, with one free alteration.
