The label
ANAR is Hindi for pomegranate. We make festive clothes for people who plan to dance: lehengas that swing, shararas with a proper flare, dupattas tied and printed by hand. Everything is cut in our studio in Shahpur Jat and finished by fourteen karigars.
Eighteen pieces this season, from ₹8,900 for a Sanganer printed dupatta to ₹64,000 for the Ber velvet lehenga.

Campaign / Festive 26
Shot in our studio in August against the colours of the season: haldi, sindoor, ber and anar. Diwali, the sangeet, the mehendi, and the cousin's wedding you forgot to plan for.

Three crafts we work in
Shisha. Small glass mirrors held down with a ring of buttonhole stitch. Ours is done in Bhuj, Kutch, by a family workshop that has worked with us since 2021. The Anar lehenga carries close to 1,900 of them, each set by hand.
Mirror work pieces
Gota patti. Woven metallic ribbon, cut and folded into leaves and stripes, then hemmed down by hand. The ribbon comes from Jaipur. The stitching happens on our floor in Delhi, about eleven metres of it on the Haldi lehenga.
Gota patti pieces
Bandhani. Cloth pinched and tied with thread, thousands of times, before it goes into the dye. Our gajji silk dupattas are tied in Jamnagar. One piece takes a tier around nine working days.

The studio
42A Shahpur Jat, up the stairs next to the chai shop. Tuesday to Sunday, 11 to 7. There is a trial room with proper daylight and a tailor on the floor, so most alterations are done while you wait.
